Instructions for Reading in the Illinois Standards Achievement Tests
ISAT Data with the Microsoft Excel Macro, ISATFeb29.xls

  1. Copy the File ISATFeb29.xls to your computer and open it.
  2. When prompted, choose ENABLE MACROS.
  3. Go to File/Open and open the SAT9 data file.
  4. The import wizard will come up. Choose "Delimited" and hit the NEXT> button.
  5. Uncheck "tab", check "comma" and hit NEXT> again.
  6. Select TEXT and hit the FINISH button. This imports the data into one column of the spreadsheet.
  7. Go to Tools>Macros and select Macro. Select (highlight) is at parser and click Run.
  8. Delete any variables you do not want to import into QSP by RIGHT-clicking on the column letter above the variable name and selecting delete.
  9. Choose SAVE AS from the file menu. Choose FILE TYPE: CSV (COMMA DELIMITED). You now have a file that can be imported into QSP.

    Note: The writing prompt data still needs to be organized correctly. We are working on another program that will do this automatically, but it will not be ready for a few more days.
