Information:
The frequency table should be chosen when we need to know the number of students
within each category of a categorical variable, such as ethnicity, gender, or
free lunch status. For example, if we want to know the counts and percentages
of students included in each ethnicity or gender, we would use the frequency
table to figure it out. The frequency table will give counts and percentages
for each category as well as counts for valid, missing, and not applicable cases.
The Frequency column provides the number of students who are in each category. The Percent column represents the percentage of that category compared to the entire population. The Valid (%) column shows the same percentages as the Percent column but only for the valid cases in the database. If a student has an incorrect value for ethnicity, it is an invalid case and will not be counted in the frequency table. The Cumulative column keeps a running tally of the percentages in the Valid (%) column. The Total rows below the category rows display total frequencies and percentages of valid, missing, and not applicable cases.
Questions: How many students are Female? What percent of students are African-American? What percent of all students receive free or reduced lunch?
